The Alban Berg Monument in front of the Vienna State Opera honours Austrian composer Alban Berg (1885–1935), one of the most important representatives of the Second Viennese School. Designed by Wolf D. Prix and Sophie C. Grell (Coop Himmelb(l)au), the sculpture responds with elegant loops to the expressive lines of Berg's music. The base consists of twelve steps — a reference to the twelve-tone technique of Schönberg, Berg and Webern.
Becker Guss carried out the demanding aluminium casting of this approx. 5-metre-high, 2-tonne sculpture. The monument was unveiled in 2016 on behalf of the Alban Berg Foundation and — illuminated at night — has become a striking landmark on the Opernring.

The aluminium sculpture was cast with the highest precision by BeckerGuss. The complex casting process, in which molten aluminium was poured into highly detailed moulds, guarantees the impressive quality of the work. The surface was then carefully finished and polished to a high gloss to give the sculpture its exceptional elegance.

For the renowned artist Georg Loewit, we were able to realise demanding sculpture projects. The focus was on precisely translating his artistic vision into high-quality three-dimensional objects.
Producing the sculptures required a high level of technical know-how, craftsmanship precision and a deep understanding of material effects and formal language. Close collaboration with the artist made it possible to achieve outstanding results.
The result is expressive sculpture that combines art and craftsmanship at the highest level and impressively reflects Georg Loewit’s characteristic style.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the reopening of the Vienna State Opera, a memorial plaque was ceremonially unveiled on 5 November 2025 in the arcade driveway, to the right of the main entrance.
The plaque commemorates those victims of the Nazi regime who worked at the building and thus sets an important sign of remembrance and historical responsibility. Above the inscription is the work “The Lament” by artist K
At the unveiling, Danielle Spera spoke words of remembrance and honoured the significance of this memorial.
The realisation of the memorial plaque combines craftsmanship precision with sensitive design execution and underlines the special responsibility involved in creating places of remembrance in public space.
