Memorial Plaque for the Vienna State Opera

To mark the 70th anniversary of the reopening of the Vienna State Opera, a memorial plaque was ceremonially unveiled on 5 November 2025 in the arcade driveway, to the right of the main entrance.

The plaque commemorates the victims of the Nazi regime who worked at the building. Above the inscription is the work “Die Klage” (“The Lament”) by artist Käthe Kollwitz (1938–1941). Its execution combines craftsmanship precision with sensitive design.
